okay um i believe that there are bills circulating so if everyone could take a look and sign as necessary that would be great um looking for a motion to approve minutes of august 6 2026 i'll make a motion to approve the minutes of august 6 2026 i'll second all those in favor ask an eye looks like we have a couple of field permit requests like to get those done the

first one is for pierce beach and it's Pastor Meese for Monday, September 7th. It's a church picnic. Yeah, Madam Chair, this is the Cornerstone Church that you, the board, approved back in the spring, but because of the inclement weather, they moved it. They requested to move it, and they had contacted me last week to see if Monday, the Labor Day, was available and just checked with the beach staff manager

to see if we had enough staff to be able to handle that. It's only 25 people. They came in, they gave a check already for the $100 for less than 50 people. So this is just kind of a moving in from the last one to this one. So we've already approved it. So again, just want to put it on there for the Monday the 7th. What time? 12 to 5. He

says if it goes that long. Okay, so because it was already approved, do we know what meeting way back? I don't know, but you probably should approve it for the new date as well.

It was prior to the study because it was for Labor Day weekend. Memorial Day weekend. Yeah, that makes sense. Yeah, you came in person. I remember. But we had so many rain days. So...

If someone wants to make a motion to the new date. I'll make a motion to approve the field permit for peer speech for, I said Cornerstone Church is not on there, but picnic for Monday, September 7th from 2 to 5. 12 to 5. 12 to 5 p.m. Second. Independent Softball for their fall ball schedule. I believe Nicole is with us. Yep, so Nicole sent in the, we already had approved for the previous one to extend south complex. Now we're just looking to do action one, two, and three. I can send this around, but it's on Monday through Friday, starting this next week, or actually now. Yeah. From four to dusk. on Monday

through Friday for practices and games. This is for the younger divisions. There's four teams: purple, green, red, blue, no yellow, no hope. And then we have games on Sundays, from 11 a.m. to dusk. Saturday and Sunday? Saturday and Sunday. Saturday was ring days, right? Friday, Sunday, Saturday. Okay, I'll just cross off that. that G yeah but you also but you also said it was a there was

a rainy day so Saturday and Sunday both 11:00 a.m. for that just no Saturday is Saturday's 11 both days you have 11 that was okay They're getting there like an hour early to set up and it's not a big deal. What I'll do for your minutes, Josh, I'll set this down for you so you can have days and times as well. Okay. If you want.

And this is for South Highlands, right? This is for Ashland Field. This is for... You still have two tournaments, right? We have one in October. We're going until Halloween. Yeah, we're going until the 25th. We have something on... Oh, Truck or Tree.

But it wasn't on Halloween. Okay. I'm going off memory, it's half the schedule. Yeah, it just goes to the 31st. I mean we need to clean the concessions. And we've made arrangements with the dumpster people for them to pick up on November 8th. When does it start? That's all of them? Yeah. We've already started practice. They extended it. You extended it until September 7th. September 7th. Yeah. So this goes back.

So this is sort of going to pick up where we left off. Does he need the whole thing? So he sees the date. He can look at it? Got it. all right so is there a motion yeah I'll make a motion to approve the permit for some separately independent soft foley uh to use Ashton Fields one two and three from September 7th to October 31st Monday through Friday 4 p.m to dusk and Saturday and

Sunday from 11 a.m to dusk second all those in favor ask tonight don't tonight I Christopher yeah thank you again like Texas do the insurance yep so again thank you we just the floor knows Nicole's father passed away so trying to get get all the stuff going on with all that our condolences to you and your family we are going to have probably two items for that do a bill permits but we have

to do it there are items under Commissioners afterwards so that we received those those uh applications on the first and we had we had to post the meeting on the 31st of the park so just so we will do those two a little bit later later on all right wrap up of summer programs uh the all day summer program i'm just going to pass this these down to you just a little

cheat sheet for you and also help out josh with his parents um self wrap up south school perfect location for what we had um parents loved the fact that the site was good for drop off and pickups buddy parking was the counselors liked it because they didn't have to walk so far from their cars to the to the site uh the plate so uh perfect location

the tent from jam rental was a bonus right there because of the it gave us an area for autographs snacks lunch it was set up for the whole summer The only two days we had a real problem was the first two days of camp when we had torrential downpours those two days. And I told the councilors, if you can make it through these two days, the rest of the summer will be

a breeze. They kind of agreed. The U-box container, again, is perfect for supplies. The playground area is a natural fit, plus the little trips over to the new playground over south. And the counselors actually did a nice job doing the nature trail and the scavenger hunts where the cross country site is. And there was a lot of shade so on those hot days kids were like, "Can we go walk in the

woods?" "Okay, go ahead." So it was a nice addition and we have plenty of picnic tables this year so it was really good. The trips, the only trip that we probably will probably try and move away from next year or make a recommendation with the counselors, with Chandra and Josh, I mean it's time to move away from Monster Mini Golf. It's something that we kept for a little while. We didn't

have the water slides this year but we're looking into possibly going to Water Wiz.

I know it's in Wareham but we used to go there but I was always nervous because of the size of that place. But also looking at, I got a little connection in Cranston, speaking with the recreation director there, that there's a possibility we may be able to swap camps for a day, send some of the kids out to Pierce Beach for a day, and we send our kids over to the Bud

Long Pool, the new Bud Long Pool that just opened up this year for one of our field trips. So we'll cross our fingers on that. Rolls skating, we can't do away with that. They're very good to us. A&F bowling was much better this year than last year. And then right from there we'd go to Pierce Beach for lunch. Kids like the fact, you'd be surprised some of the kids that live in

town. don't know about the big red slide or this beach and that sort of thing I think what we plan on doing next year what would Chandra and Josh said that we would do was we would end up at Pierce Beach, weather permitting, and stay there and have the parents pick the kids up at Pierce Beach.

So again, the parents get a chance to see it. And we actually last, this year, that was on the day of a concert we had. So we had the trips on Wednesdays, so... Chips on the first four Wednesdays, first four weeks, we're on Wednesdays. In the last two weeks, we're on Fridays. But we possibly could do that.

How did you switch that? It was Friday that first because of... it started on friday no no this no it was friday it's because oh yeah yeah yeah we yeah it was friday's first but so when we went to pierce beach was the first it was the first day it was a one and that's what we had back in the day at the beach that day so um so we do that

so and they love boston science museum um they wish they had more time but again It's tough when you have a school bus. The school buses, you know, in that traffic, you never know what that would be. Did we get better deals because of the Wednesdays versus the Fridays or no? They were the same. They were the same, okay. They were the same, yeah. But, yeah, the kids always loved Vinnie Ames

for the karaoke and the talent shows. Fridays with Frank with the ice cream. Chandra and Josh are going to come in and do a detailed report of our counselors and which counselors we would like to, well first off, they find out which counselors want to return and then we also figure out which counselors that we want to return. Off the top of my head, I don't think we

had a problem with any counselor this year. We didn't have, you know, we didn't have a problem with, you know, any council. And the self-custodians were terrific. We couldn't ask for Mr. Green, who's not going to be there next year. He's now here working for the town and here in Town Hall. But the The custodians were terrific right from when we were first moving in on the very first day up right

until the last day of the camp. So, and I don't have it on this sheet, but the highway department was always good about coming in and helping us out and chopping off the stuff. Recommendations so far, and we'll get more details from Chandra and Josh next next month They recommend we stay itself that we can but you never know what's going to happen with the building there if they have any

work that at least the done be done the only reason why we're itself this year because the window situation at North North was nice. It was nice big space but Where the trash was located was difficult. Where the playground was a little further away. And the bathroom situation was kind of tough.

So they recommend if we can stay at South, we'll have to go over, there's a new principal there this year. So they lost one Mr. Green and have another Mr. Green going in there. We'll look at the fees. comparison to other programs we're still the lowest in town around but you know yeah I mean but I don't know I don't know what they offer so yeah we'll have to

look at that and if we can depending on we don't get another blizzard we can go to I recommend that we try to get a seventh weekend. We can't go any further than that third week of August because they need that time to get ready for the teachers to come back. But if we can start on the 28th and the way Fourth of July lands this year,

it's perfect because Fourth of July is on Sunday. The only thing is on the second week of camp, we would still have the camp. But that's a big vacation week. We might see a drop off because Town Hall would be closed on the 5th. That's the holiday. We'll look at the Title I program.

We had a few issues. We're going to be meeting sometime in October with them with the Title I program. It was a little different this year, but we definitely need to actually do a better job screening the students that come from that program.

because any problems that we did have were probably again just like last year were students that didn't disclose some of the needs that they needed to work. And that's something that we can work off in the off season. Mrs. Fenton will be there. The Title I program still goes on. She'll be done working with that along with Natalie Thomas. And then the other thing too we look at is

we had a number of requests about doing a half day program where they, you know, whether they do it before lunch, the kids go home for lunch.

The only issue with that is the fact that if we do that on the days we have trips, they'd have to go on the trip or not just go that day. So we can look at that as well. So that's just a brief... wrap up of the all day summer program and we'll get more detailed next month with staffing then you can ask Chandra and Josh any additional

questions about the program any questions about all day summer program Tennis program was okay. Again, we had a few days of rain here and there. The issue that we always have with them as far as having enough kids in the program.

I think what I'm going to propose next year is the possibility of doing a smaller tennis program at Pierce Beach with the one tennis court we have there and try and recruit some of the kids who are tennis players for the high school and then we do something smaller. If USDA wants to do their bigger things, that's fine. But at least this way there's a little bit more shade over at

Pierce Beach. We have dedicated, one of the complaints we had was there was no bathrooms available to the tennis program. And I know it's only an hour, but still, the kids gotta go, they gotta go. At least at Pierce Beach we do it, we have bathrooms right there. Summer concert series, we have a lot of We can talk a little bit more about them, but I think all in all we took in through donations, we

have to take in $6,530 in donations and raffles and special gifts that were given, which is a couple hundred dollars more than last year. And we only had the one right now. The only issue we had was the day, second to none, we had to move it to the end. And it really got kind of dark there that last week. I like having Deja Blue

end our season. We've already talked to them about ending next year. We've already got commitments from back in the day. And if you want second to none, those will be our last three concerts. What I'll do is I'll have a detailed list of any new concert groups that came in. I know people like to get the funk out, they like moving on. We only have seven and we

really don't want to go much earlier than July 1st. And we really can't go much further than we did. So, any thoughts on that? Food trucks, you know? I mean, I know we've all kind of mentioned it, but that center sandbar there, if we could look at what it would take to remove that so we can open up that center, and then we could put the food vendors in there. I think it would be

much easier than trying to get them in different areas of the grass. Simply Smiles did great over in that corner, but I think if they were a little bit more visible, they would do much better. And I think it would just kind of like, you know, make it easier for people to visit one location for food than, you know, with Dan's over in the corner there, we've got the other ones behind

the... concession stand and then we had some smiles over the small playground yeah we we kind of changed things around a little bit this we moved gg's pretzels out of where they were yeah i think that helped them out they were like lost yeah over there by the dumpster you know they freed up a lot of spaces for us with the dumpster so and speak just so you know speaking with chris

simons um that is going to be a reality of the fall to take that out because there's a, there was talk about somebody donating a small gazebo for that area. But we can also look at that and we can pave that and we can put a couple of park benches there as well, but again, open it up because that's a nice little view, this is for the beach.

And that pile gets higher and higher every year. that pole that's there, he can take that pole out and he can utilize it for some more cameras in the park as well. So that's something. - So I was just saying that would be a great spot for a little power outlet, like a power box. - Yeah, we certainly, that's an easy thing right there. There is, that pole we can

actually dig down underneath and put a junction box right there. So again, that's, We can start all over again if you want, George. As if the high school is called and now church is coming. But yeah, so that's certainly an area. And then, so we went around yesterday and we spent some time looking at some of the areas where some of the trees need to be trimmed

and We definitely, if we do something like we did with the cardboard boat regatta and that last concert, I spoke with R&S Rentals, plus the Highway Department, they do have some stage lights that we can actually use. And R&S Rentals said that they would be one of our sponsors next year so that if we, those concerts are like back in the day when we parked all those cars up on the

bluffs. at least when they're walking back to their cars there's some lighting there. But those of you who were there the last concert, you know, it was kind of dark going out there because sunset was like 7:25. And the band, they couldn't get there much earlier than they did. any other general thoughts about the concerts yes I just think for next year we need to have some kind of

policy as far as canceling because I did hear some comments from the food vendors there was one I think it was moving on that we canceled it on the day of and they have to already plan the food that they're buying for those so I think it's just not well you do at least a day before yeah we're getting the rain that day well that unfortunately that was a day I

wasn't there but that was you know that's a situation where we tend to like look at the weather week out and I'm always like looking at is some of the bands can't play on thursday so one of the policies we're going to put in place is if you can't play on the wind if you can't play on a thursday we may have to look for somebody else that can do both days

or if we can get a person that can't play on a wednesday then it could be a backup on a thursday you know that's what you need you need at least I don't think you can do 24 hours. No, I thought, like, pretty much. I mean, if we cancel by noon and they already bought their food and they're going to come back the next day. If they can't, but say the vendor

can't, though. Well, then that's the vendor's. I mean. You know what? I'll say this.

He's going to sell that food no matter what. Yep. And any man that we have, we've been doing concerts on Wednesday nights. I don't even know for how many years. Anyone that we've. had on a Wednesday night understands the policy that there is a potential of rain anytime then we would like for you to be available Thursday as well as food vendors and you know what sometimes they can't even

make it on a Wednesday night and that's perfectly fine obviously if we have a nice number of about four to five possibly six food vendors that's great You know, that particular day the concert was called off by quarter of 11 and I don't think it was too late. you know what and it's not like we postponed it to the following week we did the next day yeah

we did right you know and whether it's one of those things jen you damned if you do or you damned if you don't i'm just saying i think well i mean you know a note that 24 you know it's not going to be 24 hours because i think you just got to wait it out and hope I agree with Barry. I agree with Barry. Yeah, but again, it's New England. It's New

England, and you're damned if you do and you're damned if you don't. I'm saying this because it is not fair. So what would have happened if we did have the concert and then it chose to play? Then he's still out of food, right?

So again, it's half dozen one, half dozen of another. You're about to get mad at me. I'm not getting mad. I'm just... I appreciate the vendors that we have there.

You have to realize that it's a weekly thing. We get pizza from Gus, we get County to Hot Dogs, we get pretzels.

This year Miles did a great job, Frank does the ice cream, Rice Cafe, the last three concerts they did a nice job. They were very good about it. A lot of people bring their own food. So it's not like people are going for a five course meal, you know, but there were some days that Ruth couldn't be there, so she let us know

ahead of time. So we called Miles up and said, hey Miles, Ruth's not going to be here. Because normally he would not do hot dogs because she does hot dogs. And so we let him know that, and so he added stuff.

And there was two times that she couldn't go. And that's great, because that's just showing the different businesses how they support each other. I understand, I just think that day, morning of, is too late. My opinion. Let me just, can I chime in for a second? This is my first kind of work at the concert series. I think a noontime decision is more than reasonable because if you don't cancel and it

washes out, just like anything else, even in my own career, you make decisions and you're making them two hours, three hours, four hours, six hours before the event happens and you have to go on what you have six hours before And you know what? Sometimes it does turn out to be the right decision. Sometimes weather moves.

It will be the same equivalent of weather comes in in the last second that was unexpected. So I don't think, I think, and I know Mary Ellen and I talked that day, I think it was more than reasonable by noon. And I think that the reason why we make that decision early enough, we contact the band first.

They're the ones who are playing with all that electrical equipment. If the band's not comfortable playing on a day, I'm not worried about Gus's Pizza, I'm not worried about County Fair, because we'll have other days. But the band is why we're there. And that band, unfortunately, two years, I still have yet to hear it, but I was able to see it the next night on the

cameras and stuff. But again, I think... So you're saying that was the band that called and said they wanted to postpone because the weather was fine? But the weather at 11 o'clock was... Yeah, the radar didn't look good at that point. So again, you have to make the decision based on the information you have at hand at the time of the decision. You know what, like I said, that time it didn't

work out. So was it the van that called and said they wanted to postpone?

I didn't have a conversation with anybody. I'm just saying I looked at the radar around 11 o'clock and it didn't look good. And then we should look to see if the next night, and again, I was in privy that I didn't have access to phone that day. But, you know, everybody here has been involved with running events. And you're at the mercy, and it's New England.

Sometimes we've had situations, it's happened with me, we've had concerts, you know, it's gonna be bad and all of a sudden I'm driving home like, oh my god, we could have had the concert. And then all of a sudden people are calling, oh you could have had the concert. If the band is telling us that they don't feel comfortable playing their electric guitar during a thunderstorm, I'm gonna have to agree with

them. Yes, and all their equipment and stuff like that. So again, we're talking about a free concert, you know, and at the end, we're not charging the vendors to be there. All we're asking them to do is give us a gift card or something that we raffle off to bring in the money for the next year. So again, all in all, other than that one little blip, I think it went really

well. Any other comments about the concerts? And the Highway Department really, they tried as best they could to whenever they could was to rake the beach on the morning of a concert. You know, and they would cut the grass that morning. So again, I think the kids did an okay job with parking. It was a little dicey on the day, back in the day, but you know, back

in the day we know that that, 1300 people were there. You know, and I say this all the time, that concert, sometimes we, we may, we, they may be too big for us, but we love having them. You know, when people show up at 10 minutes to 6 with a handicapped black kid saying, I gotta get in, I gotta get up on stage to introduce the band. We've been here

since. And the staff themselves, the beach staff in the morning, we gave them things, how to get everything ready for the concert. They did a real good job getting ready each and every week. So by the time we were done, they come in and it's like, boom. With my new hours that I can only do so many hours a day, so many hours a week, you It was great knowing that I

could still be on the phone with the beach staff in the morning. Kellen, Kellen, Jack Hanson. I'd say, okay, we all set. Is there anything we're missing? It was nice. And then the kids at night, they were always on at night, wrapping up.

I could leave at 8.15, 8.20. and get stuck under Washington Bridge on the way home. So that was good. - I think the parking of the Bluffs for the last couple concerts worked out great. You just let people know that it's almost like a closer walk to get to the band than parking. - It really was close.

If you parked up at the Bluffs, you had a shorter walk than if you had parked at the baseball field. Or the barge. Or if you tried to sneak in at the church. But yeah, so. So that's, any other questions about that? No, the only other thing I'd like to see is maybe like a project down the line to refurbish the concession stand building, the bathrooms. That is part of our 10-year plan. Yeah. I'm looking

to have somebody come in this fall because we talk about all the different things going on in town. All of our infrastructure. We may do with what we've had and it's okay, but I think if we do a major renovation there two or three years out, I know I won't be here during that time, but I'd like to help get the ball rolling on that because I do think we need a better

shower area. for people. I think we need a better area for changing as well. I think we need a dedicated first aid station right there as well. And we have plenty of room where we set up the food trucks there now adjacent to that. We can actually add on to the back of that building and go forward. and we would have some better handicap accessibility into the restrooms. We're not like Horseneck, we're not

that size, but again, there are a lot of people that like the fact that we offer something in town. And then with the advent of doing a splash pad, we're gonna probably lose some of our some of our parking that we do for the concerts if we did that along with more picnic areas we get people are always doing picnics throughout the throughout the year so you're right that that building

is kind of out of done it's kind of beautiful we make it work we make it work it was great when we added the concession area You know, people then at that time, when we did it, we could also, well the board at the time, could look into outsourcing and actually getting a vendor in there during the summer months to do a concession stand. You know,

they're not going to make a lot of money, but again, if they're there, they can do well when we have concerts and special events. Provides a service.

It does. It provides a service. Okay. Cardboard Boat Regatta. And the concert with Bare Bones and Houston. I personally like the fact that we moved it from Saturday to Wednesday. I still haven't gotten the pictures from Buster because he said he had some good pictures of panoramic view of the concert on the right and also the people on the land. We had five

boats. you know, again, I think people said the next week, they said, "Oh, that was fun last week." Because it drew attention to that. And I think we still have that green boat, you know, we'll keep for display. And then the Fisher Bus boat, we're going to store that for them. So we'll be able to put those out there, you know, and I think You know, we'll get

more people. But I think having Buster there was really good. And then we had, you know, the concert was nice because I know that they were upset that they weren't part of the summer concert series, but I tried to explain to Kim that it was a special event. the previous year they they kicked off the summer concert they kind of if we didn't have second to none it would that would have been

the last concert of the summer and that's about when we time wise with daylight we can do so i would suggest that you're looking to do that and next year that's a perfect time to do that the week after we do this we do the deja blue And I think that Brian, they're a local group and it beats them having to play at the comfort zone.

They can play outside. So the only thing we'd have to do is see if, we never thought about the rain day, you know, but we would have to do that next year. Any comments about the cowboy boat we got in the concert? That concert? I think the Wednesday worked. I think it, like you said, drove my attention to the event. So, should be able

to get more people. I did like the going all the way around. Maybe we should just mention the parents instead of you being in the water.

I know you didn't come out. I was glad because you guys took care of all that stuff. That they could go in the water and help guide their children. Yeah, we were at the mercy of the tide.

So luckily the tide was going up. When we first put the buoys out there, the water was up to my shoulders. By the time we did the race, it was at my waist. But we can tweak that a little bit too next year. It was good. It was great that you guys all helped out with the awards and stuff like that. It was nice. We had the judges there. That

was good. So it was nice. Anybody else? How did it feel to be the winner of the Gilligan's Island Award? So I just want to correct you. The Gilligan's Island Award is actually for the boat that would leave you stranded. and I think you said the wrong thing you said to keep you keep going so I technically did win that because that boat would have stranded anybody you could have lasted in

that boat a long time no no but the award it was originally designed for the boat that would leave you stranded because Alice Smith won it originally the first year and Robbie won it the second year because he couldn't even row that boat, it just kept like spinning. But he got a new one. He got the Titanic one but he also, he actually, it was good that he didn't give up. He

walked that boat the whole time. Captain, that went down with the ship. That's what I told him, just like the Titanic. Yeah. But no, it was fun. I had people message me after and say, "Oh, you know, they want to do an XGFI."

Yeah, and I will say, kudos to Borden Tape Company who donated like a ton of cardboard and they John C. and I told them next year just tell them earlier and we can get more of their writing forever. Well I think what we'd like to do after the first of the year is we come up with our own little calendar of events for the season and then save the date type things

you know for that because this way we can and That U-Box container that we had at, what do you call it? South Complex. It's very cheap. We could actually do that and tell people if they want to build a boat during the course of the summer, you can store it right in there. That's a big problem, I think, is building an equipment store. The other thing, could we sponsor a build night?

We talked about that. We could. Because it has the manpower to do it. Yeah.

And then you have to store it. It would be great if you had that new box to store it after. Because then where are you going to put them?

Yeah. After you build them. I think we certainly could do that. So it'll sponsor a night. Yeah. Yeah. All right. So once you know who you're going to get.

Yeah. Yeah. We'll show you. Yeah. But this way here, we at least have those.

We put the U-Box container up earlier in May, June, when we first opened up.

We can have each day that the people take the boats up and put a sign that says, cardboard boat, we got it. Have you built a workshop on this thing? Have you built your boat yet? So, I mean even Jeremy Hill even said he would help run a session for that. i want to i want to we want to do some board testing

on that boat though oh yeah that's what that boat was like yeah that wasn't like the block island yeah i thought it was a mask i think he should add i think he could add that to his christmas display he could put lights on the thing he should turn into a slight yeah he could yeah it's about the same size all right very good all right jane and jane volleyball clinic a

little wrap up met with them they did the little they did the little uh thing last week the 27th the 25th overall overall being there this is what they sent me overall being our first venture partnership with the town recreation department we feel well we feel that it went well and look forward to providing additional programs in the fall and then again next spring and once

again next summer so they did it you know based on your recommendations They did it a little smaller. They did it in two days. One group was from 9 to 10:30. There was two individuals. A group from 11 to 12:30. There was three.

And then they did 1 to 2:30. There was three. The cost of the program per kid was 50 bucks. When it was all said and done, they ended up with 280 bucks and the Recreation Department ended up with 120 dollars. Feedback, the kids loved it and they learned new things. The kids loved the fact that the nets weren't too high and the balls weren't as hard as they thought they were going

to be. They actually did a couple of times, they actually took small beach balls as well to do that sort of thing. The parents were okay with the location, the length, and time and looked forward to the program continuing. Location was good, except for the geese droppings. There's a lot of geese. We've had a lot the last couple of weeks. A lot of geese. You get it over here? You get it

on your field? -Ottersville is a mess. I don't know how those kids are practicing over there. -Oh, it's nuts. -Is there something we can do? Can we put those like, coyotes out there? We could. We could do that. We used to have them.

We used to have them. Oh, just the noise. We used to use air ones as well. We could use the air ones, but again, like at the beach, we get there so early, they get there so early in the morning, and then they just come back. So we didn't hardly ever have problems with geese last year.

But this year, they're all over town. They're not just the beach there at Farnsville, they're down at O'Neill. - Don't you have like a set to the grass or something? Like you said the coyote thing. Well, there's a wooden coyote, but these geese are smart. They're smart. No, but the scent though. Like hunters, I don't know if hunters don't have it. I think we should have a hunting class. No, I'm serious.

Recreational hunting. I thought it was like some kind of spray or something. When was the last time we had a recreational hunting program in Somerset? Yeah, maybe.

maybe we should look into it we actually took one of our welcome signs and put it right next to their tent so they like they thought it was a nice touch they had though they had their own tents tables first aid equipment nets balls they had everything they had you know everything set up registration online was good they want to do a proposal I was running by

you, they called me and they said, "What do you think about that?" I said, "Oh, I haven't even talked to the board yet." They would like to do another program on Saturdays at Pierce, the 20th. They wanted to do the 19th. I said no because we have the cardboard boat race that, we have the soapbox race that night, and then Shirley made France. There's a lot going on that day. And then

they wanted to do up until the 24th. They said no because we have this education foundation road race that day. So they're looking to do three days, the 26th, the 3rd, the 10th, same time frame and with a rain date on the 17th.

I told them I would bring it up to you guys and they're looking to do it. The pricing would be kind of similar. Instead of $50, they're looking to do $100 for the three days. So it's $30 a class. I talked them off the ledge. They wanted to go on until the end. You won't get anybody.

As you start with the people you already had first and then go.

So again, I think it went well. Any questions? So you would wait $100 for all three days? Yes, it would be the change in Saturday fall volleyball and the three days would be the 26th, the 3rd, the 10th with a rain date of the 17th. What did they charge us for? They charged $50 for the two days. Oh, for two days. Okay. Yeah. Now they're saying three days. Right. So they say it's

fine. Yeah, it's the same time. Nine to 10.30, 11 to 12.30, and then one to 2.30. The only issue we have is the fact that bathrooms... We don't have staff on at that time. I don't know if we want to put a portage on there. I don't really know. We possibly could put a portage on there next to where the baseball shed is like we do preseason. So

I know we don't have a portage on. uh for the beach and stuff but people want for those for that month that we want to put a port of john there we close the bathroom because they're not open for that race right no they are open for the race but i think a lot of times the people with the race i think you even mentioned it's kind of a long if we

if we had the the port of john there for the month that would include that foundation raised as well so it would be there plus we have the bathrooms for the up at the snack shop how much is it for a month it's it for a month it's about 130 so what we just took in for the 120 pays for that yeah pays for the water job but you're not going to

have it on the We can go, for the month we can say the 26th to the 24th of, so it's still there for the education foundation rates. And then I told them we would sit down in the spring, do something in the spring, and maybe in the summer get a regular thing going in the summer. They were pretty good. and they're going to send they're going to send us some videos of of their of their

program so do you need to make a motion someone might might want to make a motion to uh extend the program for those dates i'll make a motion to extend the volleyball clinic um to a three-day program from or on awesome actual dates 9 26 10 10:03 and 10:10 all Saturdays three different groups basically essentially the summer program for $100 a student with a ring date sorry of 10:17 and including a

I've got to set that up. So just let me know, so we have the... softball on Sunday mornings. Okay. But if we need to do it, we don't really have anybody set up for Saturdays. Yeah, it's only going to take

a day. Okay. Well, you're going to power wash one day, right? Yeah, I'll probably power wash it one day, let it dry, and then go down there and do it. It'll only take a day. There is a couple of boards that I noticed on the front. and a crack that's kind of hanging a little bit it's like a face no it's a facial board um let's see if i can pick up

one and at least try to fix it do you need any ladders they want to know if you need the ladders i was thinking it's a step ladder yeah i mean i got six quarters i have a six four i'm sure we can get the ladders i don't i don't think we need anything um for that i did speak with um the mural guy I reached out to him. He

wants $4,500 to paint the mural. So we're going to do some fundraising. We're going to do some donation things that they can do. Kind of like a GoFundMe, but not GoFundMe. We might do some sort of spaghetti dinner possibly to raise the money.

I told him that's probably not happening this year. That we will put that off until the spring. More than likely. Get the building painted. Yeah, get the building painted.

Look at it. Get it all set up. Then I can meet with him and show him what we were... I mean, I already sent him what we were thinking.

Is that something that we can actually put through as a cultural council? Yeah, one of our members is on the cultural council. That already passed. You have to be a 501c3. Even if it's a town? Because we can do something with the library.

You might be able to do it. The nonprofit organization, first that's one thing we've got to get straightened out first, is our nonprofit status. That has to be fixed.

We're in the process of doing that. Before we can apply for any kind of scholarships for that, before we can spend any money, we have to get that squared away. So that's in the process of happening now. We're working on that.

And we let the status lapse. So we gotta fix that before we can spend any money in our account that we have. Which we have probably half right now.

uh but i'm not worried about the funding i think people step up once they see what we're planning what about like a capstone project for one of the kids at the high school to do what to do that mural it's a little more involved than a student i think could do well i don't know if did i show everybody what we have the butterfly thing right that you know it's not a

butterfly thing that uh is amazing yeah because you just So you put it up there to different people and they came back with this amazing... I was going to say, as long as they're OCT students, you might get a better project than, you know, when somebody's not an OCT student who does a capstone project.

yeah to be like obviously approved or whatever well yeah we thought we had one for the village school it did but it didn't happen like we thought it was going to happen that's okay we knew that eventually that had to be resurfaced those courts are going to be resurfaced in a few years to go see it yeah I only stopped well last week when I was on vacation That's where they get a mural. I

can tell you the story behind this. People in the neighborhood actually took those pictures. That's three different pictures. Somebody took a picture of the bird. Somebody took a picture of the sunset. And somebody took a picture of the beach pot that says life is good. It was three different pictures that were put on our website by people. And what I did was I took those

and put them in chat GPT. And I said, make me a mural with these pictures. And this is what it spit out. And I think it'll be really cool on that building. We can still put the swing like I was planning on doing.

I'm still planning on doing that. And I think it'll be really, really cool. But I think you're underestimating the talent of the art students. Because you already have what you want. You just need someone to do that. You might be surprised how... Like I know someone that actually paints murals too. Like she... I did that for the barriers took a little long now brian fox i don't know i know but like it would

be interesting he might i mean i haven't asked him but he's so busy because we asked him to do a baseball thing yeah i mean he has to get the right kids to do it and it's tough for me those capstone projects oh i know it's not just money they wait till the end of the year to get a lot done really i mean we're gonna I'm not worried about it. mean, we already have half the money. I just can't spend it right now. I mean, I've done quite a few wine and paints, so, you know, I can show you my work. Paint nights. You know, maybe I can help you out. We should have another paint night and then have those people smoking something. That's what you're going to do instead. Everyone paints a little spot on the... that. I'm painting the building this year and then in the spring doing the mural and the roof still needs to be fixed. He knows that.

um i don't know if the town has any funds to buy some nice architectural shingles it's not a big roof i can't imagine it would cost a lot to do it that's that's the only three squares and if i gotta go up there and do the roof myself i could do that too i was a roofing contractor your son said he'd hold a ladder yeah yeah sure as soon as i go

up there he's taking it I heard there was a free throw contest down there. I heard rumors there was a free throw contest down there. And our esteemed reporter in town didn't do so well I heard. Somebody took it and moved it all the way. So I went down there and moved it back. So on Friday, Dobolino is going to do a temporary fencing. It's going to go right down here. Far enough away so it's not

right on the court. Yeah, yeah. Okay. Yeah. We have the bleachers there, the picnic table. And I'm picking up Friday the two additional pickleball nets. Okay. So it may be even tomorrow. I can pick them up too. I'm up there. Yeah, so I'm just waiting for the call. I'm off tomorrow. So if they're in tomorrow, I'll pick them up. But he thinks he'll be here on Friday. well i know um the kennedy's is supposed to be signed up So tomorrow, Jess is going to go through the people the last two years that were in there. She's going to make calls to all those people. Jay Hill said he was going to put up a call. As a matter of fact, I would have emailed him back. He should, right? He should. The Rebellos are asking me questions.

I don't think that would fit on the ramp. We need to go down there and make sure we have Scott from the tractor pull company.

That week there they're going to come in and load up the truck. They're going to have the street guys there as well. I might be able to be there at the start of the race, but I have to be in Connecticut. by noon time. So I can at least get it started and then head on out. But we'll do that. We have a bunch of people who said they would help out already. We are changing

the starting spot for the race. So where we kind of finished at that bottom entrance of the park and ride, the bottom entrance, We're going to start there. So this way, the police will be, you know, people will be able to come down from the top into Slates Ferry. area so ping-ping people won't be upset and even though we... For longer walks we can

go to ping-ping. Well you'll have to do best you can with what you got.

Gotta start with my mojo in the morning. You can bring your dog and the dog can go get it for you. Yeah. They do the dog park. And they also have a pickleball park with no net. Yeah there you go. So we have that and i have not been able to get in touch with george to gear um i'm not sure what kind of condition he is so i think that

next week i'll make the right over his house and knock on his door and see so any questions on soapbox no i'll keep pumping it on the facebook groups i've been trying to get um there was one person who was willing to donate two cars and then um because she was having like a yacht sale and then they ended up going that day so somebody has her two cars yeah um i

always like the cars that i've donated in the past i try to reach out to those people to see if they're going to race or not jen is we're not curtis is he i think curtis is going to do it and um my niece is going to look at the other car she's going to do robbie's rocket I don't know if she's gonna... She's afraid of it, but she has another one.

next up, I know we've talked about this next item in the past a few times. Scarecrows in the park. So we've got a couple of options that I'd like to talk about. and see what your feeling is um i reached out to uh jane in the assessor's office who's a member of the lions and i asked her i said hey does the lions club ever do a

fall event and I was thinking that maybe we could partner with the Alliance Club and utilize Pottersville, because a lot of Kiwanis clubs or Rotary clubs, they do this. And since we are going to have 30 bales of hay that we're paying for the soapbox race, we can turn around and use those and say, okay, if a person wants to do a scarecrow, You pay $10, okay, you get a bill of hay and

we get a donation from Johnny's Hardware. He's going to give us some stuff to go in there and then they have at it. And then Alliance Club, I'm going to go to their meeting on the 15th and make the proposal for them to partner with us on that. and we're looking forward to go on saturday october 17th and the reason why we do that date is because it's before the the week before the foundation okay, race

and pierce and also that it's well before people start doing trunk-a-treats and all the fall harvest vessels but it still gives us enough time to be able to to advertise it and we have it right here and we mark off a 10x10s in this area over here at pottersville but we display them along the fence too you can just like we could do it along the fence i think you know after right now we

could do it along the fence it's just uh i don't know if we we have to get permission if we're gonna use utilize the sidewalks you know we can't impede with uh i have to check with tim on that inside oh you're doing on the inside yeah just lay them there so when you drive by you can see them yep yeah So I think that would be something. So this would be

something like we come together to build the scarecrows or they build them and then bring them? They build it and bring it. So we give them a 10x10 with them right there. If they sign up, they get a spot, they get a bale of hay, and they get a pole. And from there, they have at it and come up with the different themes and we'll look to have the Lions Club see

if they could have some judges. We could have some judges. Again, I think the 17th is a good, and then if we have, if it rains, we have the ability to do it on the Sunday, the 18th. I know Amy was talking about possibly having a friend of me participate in this as well. So they bring them on October 17th, we set everything up, and then we keep them for how

long? I would say we keep them for a few days, a week. Oh no, you have to give them for Halloween at least. No, I don't know if the bail is, you know, but we can say right through, keep them there until the 1st of November, or the 2nd of November, do that.

And the only other issue is if the Lions Club can't, they don't want to do it, we possibly could partner with Cub Scout Troop 7. They're looking to do a little fundraiser. So the new Cub Master, their name is Donald McGinn. But I think the Lions Club would probably want to do something like that. And then all the proceeds go back to a charity of their choice, the Lions Club. Because again, it's

that community spirit type thing. So the voting, why don't we have the community voting?

Why not the Lions Club? And then you could pay, you could give like a dollar to vote or something. We could set it up however you want. I'd leave that up to the Lions Club. Then have the judges. If we start getting into community voting and stuff like that. We could do like we did with the cardboard vote. We could do spectator's choice on that day. We could have a box. I

mean like you set them up for like the week and people could vote. Whether it's like on a Facebook page or something. On a Facebook page. I... you do it i'm just gonna put it out there to the lions however they want to do it usually they do these things and they they do it it's a one-day event and you keep it up as a display but you know again we don't

know if we if we leave it up for more than a day or two if we get we get vandals and hopefully that's where it is and the rain and stuff like that I'm just thinking of Narragansett because I love theirs. Theirs isn't...

They started doing their own pumpkin festivals, their own trunk of treats. You can't have five of them. And then the churches, they all have their own bazaars. We need to do it before the PTOs get winded

at that. Right, so if you want, we can... I just got to let... I think we do it, we let it roll with the Lions Club and we can talk to the Lions Club. We can produce a flyer and get it going. Yeah, I think we start on October 1st. Oh yeah. As soon as it's October. I think as soon as we get rid of the hay. So I'm looking at this

time? Oh yeah, we actually take the hay, the bale of hay, and we can put them out. Say this is where... I'm looking at this time that they did it and they displayed them from October 1st all the way to October 23rd. Was that Barnstable? Just says Project Jericho.

I know that Narragansett was at the beginning of the month. Park County Park District. Yeah, Narragansett did it usually after the Summer's End concert right up until the week before Halloween. because they have a couple road races then what's the softness from like if someone gets a scamper ready you can have it display and then october 17th when it is actually judged i mean

it's gonna really stop it yeah we again uh we haven't met with the lions club yet it was just a i wanted to talk with jane Talk with George a little bit. And then obviously, couldn't do it without talking to you people as well. So I think we can set it up so, you know, we, our codwood rope, I mean, our soapbox race is over on the 19th. We'll have the bells

of hay. We can actually say, you know, sign on it. Coming soon, you know, scarecrows in the park. So if we have the meeting on the 15th, you know, we know on the 15th, we have that week coming up. You know? What's nice is this one has like signs next to each scarecrow. We can tell you what the scarecrow is just in case you don't know. And I think it morphs into

a lot of different things. Like the one in Narragansett, the scarecrow's up here, a lot of them have a beach theme. I saw a wicked theme last year. Yeah, they had a lot of beach themes. I think, you know, again, it's like the cardboard boat race. You might not get 50. You might get 10. You might get 20. That's a lot. But, you know, instead of keeping on putting

those bales of hay around the pole of the sledding hill, let's use them for something else. Alright, so I'll mention to Jane... that we met last night that I'd like to go to that meeting on the 15th so we can make a proposal and then we have a flyer ready to go on the 16th, 17th, whatever. And depending on how the Sentinel covers it, usually, you know, there could be words out there beforehand because he

has inside information about how this could play out. Word on the street has it there's a Scarecrows in the Park program coming.

Okay. So, yeah, so I met with CODA last Friday, and morning, and it took us about four hours to because we were trying to get the measurements right. So we went, you know, two things high, so it's like 24 inches high, like two feet high. This way it's enough room for, or enough height for kids to be able to climb into the Gaga ball pit. And then

we tried to space it. What we did is we drilled holes in hockey pucks.

And we used rebar to kind of keep the joints together on the playground borders. And then we just capped off the top of the rebar with some PVC caps. And some PVC and then just use a little bit of construction adhesive to cap those. We do have enough to do a second one somewhere. And then the only change I would make is, I would

still probably use the rebar, but they actually sell rebar caps, which are more like a rubberized cap versus the PVC. And I'll see how the PVC holds up, because if so, it's like $10 for 12 caps, and there's 12 corners, so it just makes sense to spend the extra $12. But because Coder has been a coach, a player, and a referee in my league, the extra supplies, the rebar that

we needed was donated by the Flag Football League. Because we believe in putting back into our communities that we have our kids from. Overall, I think it went well. You will see this one corner, it was the last corner, it's a little bit different than the rest because the measurements were, like I said, every corner was pretty good except for the last corner. So it's a little

off. - Any problems with the ledge there? - No, no, we got the, I used four foot rebar. and our rebars two foot in the ground. So yeah, I don't think it's going anywhere. So where do you end up putting it now? So just adjacent to the playground. I'm sorry, the swings. So you have the playground here, the swings are here, and it's right over here in this corner. It's like a

nice little flat section before it dips down into the left field. And we're trying to come up with another location for the second one. you can ask permission from the from the selectmen and put it over at buffington yeah i was thinking buffington would be here because there's plenty of um land over there you know to utilize even though we don't you know do anything over there yeah i

mean well because you already have one like down that side you know i'd love to try to find space that um That pot is a little off, you know, because it's a little more centralized. It won't be. There'll be no space there. Put the walk-in track, the bike playground, and a fitness court. There's no... It's only, um, it's like 15 feet. So, from off-side edge

to off-side edge. Let's get the bike playground finished first. See. I agree. There's no space there. There's no place that... That blows it up enough. What about down there in the waterfront? you know where jen that's not ours no i know it's not ours but the village i don't know i don't know if there's any room you know over there because it there's those schoolers to get the hill and i don't know what the town

is planning on doing with the with that property with the village school yeah you know um no room itself complex not in ashton um We can wait and see Sony 15B and Pierce Beach, you know, but we have enough going on over there that right now yeah so the playground board was actually donated to us by NOR so when I was substitute teaching there I

actually had proposed to do the project there but what was an issue was about how are they gonna cut the grass you know and stuff so So, because you know like behind the basketball court there's that little section of grass before you go into the neighborhood, they have that pathway. I thought that would have been a perfect spot for it. And it could be in the winchette area.

We did check with Mr. Green over at South because they have an inflatable one over there. And I know, as in maybe it's a situation at South School, since we're going to be there, we could actually put it at South School I know in that back part over where the... Yeah, yeah. So, good job though. Good job. Alright. One other question. What's going on with the... Weren't we supposed to look into the lawyer thing

with the netting that's out? With Chris... Was that us? Well, Chris Simon... Chris Simon and I are going to go and look and see. where if at all we need to put any netting but for now we're starting with putting up signs and each of the fields over there you know we're a foul ball area yeah well I mean that's a lot of place

to do it I spoke with Jim Farrier about the fact you know they they they have signs that they put up so maybe he said that maybe they may come up with some signs at this If that's the case, we probably should do it at Village School, that should be done at Pierce Beach, and it should be done at O'Neill, all these places because that's a situation where the lawyer

said if we made improvements, continue to make improvements, it's just that how many improvements we have to do.

So we're actually putting, we've made arrangements to get some signs to put over there for upcoming season.

New York City trip, okay, so we cannot get the bus for the December 5th. It's not a bus. They don't have enough drivers. for the oh they have plenty of buses over there but the official official bus they also that's the time the year that they they they need drivers for umass dot med rodney williams uh there's like two or three human all these different schools that need drivers for it plus they also have

their own bus trip. They have two buses going down there on the 5th. So we do have the bus trip on the 12th. Is there anybody who would like to chaperone that trip? If not, I will do that trip on the 12th. And it's just that on that date, that's a long day. So what I'll do is that I'll consider those 16 plus hours part of my

part of my 35 because I can't do the can't do the more than 35 hours so no more comp time you know so which is not bad but the next so we do that we we have people calling already We'll do one bus, leave at 6 o'clock in the morning. We have a flyer. I think she did a flyer already. And we're going to do the same price that Fisher does,

$85. And so... We'll have that and we have somebody who is looking to be a sponsor for the trip. We usually do the little goodie bags with their little backpack. We put in Somerset Recreation, New York City, Big Apple trip. I'm going to have to find out. I haven't done a trip. I think it's about time, but I'm not going to be in that school for 70 years. Are you and your

bride going to go? So, I don't think Tyler's playing travel basketball this winter. Is he? Yeah, he's a freshman. Yeah. There's no travel basketball. So if you want to do that, that's easy. All it is is get him on the bus, get back on the bus. Yeah. If you want to do that, check. Yeah, I'm gonna check. I'll just send him a message. Yeah, alright.

Otherwise, I don't mind doing it. You know, it's just a Thailand adventure. Alright. So we, and then that leads into the holly trolley, jolly trolley, letters to Santa, and gingerbread house workshop. I know last year we did the holly trolley. And we, Jamison Souza said that he would work with, he would work with, where is it? I have a meeting on that. Somerset Federal Credit Union to do the

holly jolly trolley. Did I pass that down?

- Okay, so. This is a proposal for Saturday, December 5th. It's sponsored by a Susan group in the Somerset Federal Credit Union. The price on the trolley is $800. So splitting the cost between the Susan group and the Somerset Federal Credit Union. Last year we did a bunch of places and Looking at we started Old Town Hall, we go to Somerset Grill, they were, they loved the fact

that we were there. We go in, sing a few songs, from there go to Rides Cafe, then Somerset Federal Credit Union. All class was great, we walked right into the store. That was nice. Again, all these places are different, spots throughout the course of the year. George, I'll get you one of these.

And then we have Dr. Robitaille. I haven't talked with him yet, but those, the nurses have not, they love us going over there.

Then we have Rogers Family Restaurant, County Fair Hot Dogs, and then Fiesta. We have not done, but they are also a sponsor for our concert series. So I'm supposed to meet with him on Monday.

and then we return to old town hall so once we get back to old town hall uh we'd have gus's pizza he's gonna do a pizza party and hot chocolate with dunkin donuts and cookies from nancy's from one to three and then we've had photos with santa if we want to do the gingerbread houses we can do it at that time and also maybe do some holiday crafts a gingerbread house workshop

has declined over the years because of the... I know what happens is we have... each year we've gone down and down with the numbers. We can put it as part of this event and then last year we... went over to Ambets where the Lions Club, they do their event and it's usually that first weekend. So we're going to check with the Lions if

they're still doing with Scott LeBeau and then they do their little thing. I know, again, you don't want to have too many events on the same day. And then, depending on how that works out, I'm going to mention it early this year to find out if the Selectmen are planning on doing a tree lighting. this year and say hey it might be interesting that if you want to do the tree lighting

you can do it you know after this and let let them take the bull by the horns because i think doing the tree lighting on the night of a selectance meeting you know they just sometimes they go into executive session and it's it's it's tough so um we actually i'm going to actually ask brian michaud to see if he would take his guitar and ride along on the trolley along with

us and we we plan on working on the songbook so that all the words are in the book this year so again we give enough time to sing a few songs to get on to the next site um i don't know i just this is just a proposal so um again i i haven't reached reached out to um all clays yet or dr robotai uh fiesta's on board uh ruth is always good with that so

uh last year we did we did society but they really haven't done anything with us so I mean, right across the street, Rise was with us for three concerts this year so I think we can do something with them as well. So... This holiday crats, is that building crats or are you going to do like a crats thing? Oh no, what we do is... No, when we... Well,

Again, it's a thing that we certainly can do. Again, this is something that we've done, the Holly Trolley. It's a good way of spending time with our sponsors throughout the course of the year. know we wouldn't have been into some of the businesses not everybody could go in you know so i think there's we gotta be mindful of that that um either like we rotate people in and out well that's the other thing too is like you know the person might want to be if we get people who want we could say okay you can jump on the trolley you know and you can be

on the first three stops have some and then have somebody come get you at someone's saying Oh yeah, we use the, you know, and then, you know, if you want to be on the trolley from 9 to 10, okay, know that you have to be in a certain spot, and then you get picked up at a certain spot. So good news, good news. Mark is working on the bicycle playground. We convinced him we're going to do the source well. So we don't have source well. It's a bidding process that the company that does the the bicycle playground they go through that they're the only company that they go through source it's called source well and it's a purchasing company that we don't have to really go out to the regular

bidding process so mark is working on that as well along with the engine and wood fiber they are coming out Next week, I know it's after the season was actually better, but after the season put it all in there because we do, once we stop charging at the beach, we get a lot of people go to the beach. So it's not next week. The weather's going to be nice through September,

so at least we'll have that. So they'll actually do the wood fiber for the two playgrounds underneath the slide at Pierce Beach. that area and I'll also do the playgrounds at Ashton and Ashton and Lake and then the next round we do we'll take... How long ago did O'Neal finish what they didn't finish? Oh that's another company altogether. Yeah, yeah. I'm fighting with them still.

That's why they didn't get a thing. And then we have the Leahy basketball court, the century paving, can go in and finish that along with Amvets basketball court. Other than that... SO WE NEED TO LET'S I WOULD SUGGEST WE DO THE FIELD PERMIT APPLICATION FOR WHATEVER HAPPENS

WITH THE UM I'M GOING TO GET TO THAT THAT'S PART OF THIS OTHER THING SO SO BRIAN ROSE THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO START YESTERDAY AT WATER TOWER AT SOUTH COMPAS BECAUSE OF THE WEATHER Okay, they may be there tomorrow night for practice. So I told, they have the ability to stop ten days after it's awarded. So I told Riley that he could do the two The Tuesdays, Thursdays at South Complex until they start the project and then from there they'll be down to O'Neill Field. And they're on Tuesdays, Thursdays? Tuesdays, Thursdays. No games on weekends, nothing like that? They have games on Sundays, however, their schedule

does not come out until this week and the first game wouldn't be until September 13th. So I told him that if we don't have access to self-complicts, they can go down to O'Neal. - Yeah, 'cause we already told him that. - Right. - And reading that proposal from the Summers of Baseball, they were looking for O'Neal Field. - Right, so that's what, I wanted to

hit on Brown, Brian Rose first. - Yeah. - So they're good, they know that they're gonna be there's only five Sundays that they'll be playing, possibly only two home games. And I said, "Would you be able to do the double header if you started at one?" He says, "Yeah, absolutely." But I also talked with Vinny, and I said, "Vinny, you might have a day that you might have to end your games, the day you play

two games." before 12 o'clock. He said, "Oh yeah, no problem." So working with Vinnie and Bradley, because we're not going to be able to do that at South Complex. Right, right. The issue that now we have, so I need to have somebody to make a motion about men's softball. Extending it to when? To October 25th.

and they're from 8 a.m. to noon 7:30 to 12:30 on Sunday Sunday Sunday I'll make a motion to grant the permit for only a field to some segment softball starting today until October 25th on Sundays at 7:30 AM to 12:30 PM. work on the big field and they're doing big work on the upper field, they're going to want to have people playing on the lower field even though it has lights. So if it's okay with them, there's only a few days that they are looking for the lower field. They're looking for Monday through Friday from 5:30 to 9:00 Okay, and Saturday, on Sunday, there's only two days on Sundays.

The contractor probably won't be working on Sunday. They're looking for October 18th. Again, Josh, I have this for you. You can, the 18th and the 25th of October. But they're looking for, chances are they're not going to be working on the weekend, so. But then we have to realize when they start staging that area and they start removing all that dirt, I remember how it was when they did O'Neill Field

and how they had to take all that stuff out, you know, where they stored it and stuff. I'm not sure where they're going to store it. Are they going to lose the parking area and that sort of thing as well? I'm going to recommend that they utilize the old parking area where we proposed to do the playground. - Playground. - Yeah, I'm gonna suggest that when they do that. So that's that. As far as O'Neill

goes, Bonnetsville, they're only looking for, if they can't use the Sunday, and again, if the low field is closed during construction on Saturday. If they're able to say, okay, you can still do it, that's fine. Again, I don't know how he has an eight and under team, a nine and under practice, seven and under games on a Wednesday night, seven and under games on a Thursday night. I can pass this out. You guys

all saw it. But again, they're not doing any older divisions.

They're doing dates for Sandlot and that stuff. You know, again, it's really not much. But the thing is, I mentioned to him, I said, I need to have schedules. We went through the whole summer league and we never got schedules. We never got rosters. And I know how the board feels about that.

So again, I'm just bringing it to your attention. If you want to approve these, fine, but... He wants to use lower field Monday through Friday, 530 to 9. Here he is now. Oh, okay. 530 to 9, Monday through Friday. If he can't use that field because of the construction going on, where are they going to play night games? At O'Neill? The lights are still an issue there. That's what

I'm saying. We don't have lights. So I don't know how we're going to do that. If they can't, if sports turf specialties basically says you can't use this complex at all because there's just going to be too much construction equipment. I can't imagine that's going to be the case. It's a pretty big place. But what are you going to do about lights? Yeah, we may look to, depending

on the age group, move the games up to perhaps 4 o'clock when the kids get out of school if we don't have any alternatives. be tough for parents I would think to get the games at 4:00 or 5:00. Kids at school would be 4:30 or 5:00. We'd probably call the parents and say what is doable recognizing that you know we only have so much

daylight this time of year. Laura said that cross country practice going on and have meets there and everything. What are they doing? What are they going to do? Do they know that? They don't run on the actual field but I don't know what they're going to do if they close that down. We're probably going to have to have a meeting as to when I talk with Mark today, we're probably going to

have to have a meeting as to how we coordinate the site. Because sometimes, I know when we did O'Neill Field, they closed off and they put all the loom in the parking lot. And the neighbors complained because the stuff started blowing all down the street. When are they looking to use Ponson?

Earlier in the season, yeah, when they have their non-league games. I've always wanted to take Tyler, but it's so difficult to

get tickets. You know what's another good place to go see a college game? It's Brown University. They do some nice games. Brown College too. Citizen input? No. like to set the date for the next meeting. - The only other thing is, I'm gonna give you guys the reading material as you leave. The information we'll get so far for the beach as of October 31st, August 31st, and then coming

off the next meeting, we'll have a more detailed report for how we did for the beach. And just off the top, we had 15 days of rain this year. It's the most we've ever had since 2021. so that impacted quite a bit. It impacted my wallet. I keep finding money out there. Yeah, so I want to give you guys a look at it. We'll have more details. I'm going

to make a proposal for next year. See what you want to do about it, what you think about it. A number of communities, they do is... is down on the Cape, Dartmouth and Dennis and there's one more. They actually do daily passes. Everybody pays the same amount. However, the season passes, they do like we do. They do 20, they do 40 and 80.

So a proposal that we would have is that I would make is that we charge $25 for a daily pass for everybody and then what we do is we do a season pass which is $10 more for a resident $50 and $100 for non-residents what this will then generate is almost $10,000 more in income if we keep the numbers the same because a non-resident is still going to pay the $25 they're

going up but they still a lot of people aren't getting the season passes we had the same amount of season passes the last two years and then i know it's a death sentence but you know um of the 177 seniors that utilized the beach this summer only uh 41 of them actually went through our game So we're doing all this administrative things. It's a nice thing to do. It's

a free pass for, but again, maybe, you know, we think about maybe we charge $5 just for our senior and veterans. Veterans went down this year. So again, this is food for thought as well. As I know, we always get banged at a budget meeting. How can we increase fees how can we do stuff this is a way of doing it so i'll have more details on that come our next meeting but i'll share all

the stuff with you as far as the number of days and stuff but the biggest thing was we uh had 15 days of rain that was going into yesterday on monday so thank you for all your support this summer a lot of work it is yes and we'll we'll sit down and we'll go over with the beach manager to go over who we invite back next year um we um

who wants to come back um i know the beach manager has made an opinion that you know i think you know we're struggling right now because a lot of kids at this time of year you know we only have a couple of really dependable people And maybe it's time that we look to get some more adults, more teachers, or people that are seniors. When I was on the Cape, the places that we did the passes, they

were all seniors. They all work one or two days a week.

And what they do is they get they get paid a minimum amount but they also get their passes from other communities as well. So what they'll do is if you work in Barnstable, they'll pay for you and if you live in Dennis, they'll pay for a pass for you and that other thing for the summer. So they get a lot of seniors that do that one or two days a week.

Something to think about. Alright, thank you for signing bills. September 30th would be four weeks, matter what you're feeling. Yeah, that's right before my trip to Italy. I'm going to go check out the beaches in Italy. Get some passes over there. Get it through customs.
